In Texas, medical sonography programs typically include instruction in patient care, medical terminology, and sonographic instrumentation and advance to specific topics such as abdominopelvic and cardiovascular sonography.

What You Need to Know

Medical sonography programs are most commonly offered at the associate's degree level through 2- and 4-year public colleges. Students may choose to specialize in sonographic areas such as adult and pediatric echocardiography, as well as vascular technology. Programs typically take 5-6 semesters to complete. All medical sonography programs require clinical components for hands-on practice; this makes online options not available.
