Brookdale Community College

Brookdale's CNA training program is approved by the state Department of Health and Senior Services as training for employment in a nursing home or long-term care facility and assisted-living facility. You can take either day and evening classes at the Brookdale at Hazlet campus or the Freehold Branch campus. You'll learn about patient rights, the legal and ethical roles of the nurse aide and the physical skills needed for the job. You'll also complete clinical practice at area nursing homes.

Camden County College

This program utilizes classroom lectures, practice sessions in simulation labs and real experience in long-term care facilities to prepare you with the knowledge and skills to pass the New Jersey CNA exam. You'll learn to interact with patients, work with them on feeding and nutrition as well as monitor and record their vital signs. You'll study safety and infection control procedures and learn to be part of a health care team. The CNA program is a prerequisite to Camden's practical nursing program.

With 50 hours of classroom and lab work and 40 hours of clinical practice, Hudson County Community College's CNA certification program will prepare you to take the state examination to work in a long-term care facility. You'll learn about all aspects of the job, including helping patients with grooming and hygiene as well as checking and recording vital signs. Classes are held three days a week in the evenings. Clinical experience is also scheduled in the evening.
